Governors
"Governors have a clear vision for the school. Governors take an active part in the school and know the school well. Governors hold the school to account effectively."
Chair of Governors' Welcome
The governors and staff at Hallgate Primary School would like to welcome you to our school community.
You will find a dedicated team of teachers, teaching assistants and support staff, who work closely with the Headteacher to support all children. They are committed to providing a broad and balanced curriculum, combined with wider educational experiences, which enables pupils to achieve their full potential.
The governors work closely with staff to help maintain high standards of behaviour and achievement across the school.
I know that you will experience the friendly and positive welcome that is evident from both staff and pupils.
Mrs C Whitfield, Chair of Governors
The Role of the Governing Board
The day-to-day running of Hallgate Primary School is the responsibility of the Headteacher; it is the responsibility of the Governing Board to act as a 'critical friend' of the school. In practise, this means supporting the schools in achieving its aims by ensuring the highest possible standards of education and welfare for the children at Hallgate.
Governors meet on a termly basis for Full Governing Board (FGB) meetings, as well as working through committees: Standards and Improvement, Behaviour & Safeguarding and General (Finance, Health & Safety). The Governing Board works within an agreed code, which has been developed by our local authority; a copy of the Code of Conduct is available below.
