Our aim is that children leave Hallgate with a love of reading and writing, along with the skills they need to equip them for the next stage of their education; we want them to be able to succeed within a literate world. Children will read a range of high quality texts, that will excite, engage and interest them. They will be supported in using these examples to understand how writers write and be able to develop as writers themselves.

The National Curriculum Programmes of Study consist of transcription and composition; we believe that children need to develop competency in both of these skills, in order to be confident writers.
