Physical Education (PE)
At Hallgate Primary School we deliver a varied and inclusive PE curriculum, intended to lead to a lifelong love of health and fitness. Children are given the opportunity to develop their skills across a range of games and activities, including invasion games, dance, gymnastics, swimming and athletics. We focus on building resilient learners, who recognise how they can improve, regardless of their starting point. We have a strong focus on cooperation, working with children to become supportive team players who encourage one another.
Our children are encouraged to participate in various competitions, both inside and outside of school, and we have an ever-expanding range of sporting events which we attend throughout the year. In Key Stage 2, children are given opportunities to represent Hallgate Primary School in various competitions where they are able to demonstrate skills learnt from their PE lessons, including teamwork, leadership and cooperation.
We celebrate all sporting achievements at Hallgate Primary School with time given in our celebration assemblies for children to share their out of school achievements in front of their peers.
For the academic year 2024/2025 Hallgate Primary School are partnering with Hull FC, who will be providing the school with tailored PE lessons as well as after school clubs. Children also have the opportunity to participate in clubs that are offered by outside providers such as Flex Dance, judo and additional football coaching.
